Matilde Ladeira Week 8
Sunday! I finally visited my grandparents.
When I arrived, I had to take my shoes off and I also washed my hands with
alcohol-gel. I had to put a mask to be near my grandmother, as she has many
health problems. One of those is a lung condition and so we have to be very
careful.
We came back home on the same day. When we were leaving, my cousin called me to tell me that there was a big storm where we live: rain, wind, thunder and lightning.
When I arrived to my village, the streets, the fields and the gardens were full of ice balls. I thought about my garden. When we arrived home, we saw that it was completely white. Almost everything we were growing in the garden was destroyed: lettuce, cabbages, broccoli, onions, tomato, pumpkins, blueberries and other fruits. Many flowers and plants were also destroyed. The blinds seemed to have been shot because of the round spots made by the ice balls. Inside the house, there was a lot of water on the floor of the laundry room due to all the ice that started to melt on the roof and came in through the walls.
The ice was only completely melted on Tuesday morning. This was really a strange experience.
